Frequently asked questions
Health declaration, sampling and EKG
-
How is the health declaration prepared?
The health declaration is created by a specialist doctor, work environment expert, and licensed psychologist. It is based on clinically validated questions in their respective fields.
-
What do you measure in the blood tests?
The blood tests assess your blood sugar, kidney and liver function, electrolyte levels, cholesterol, blood count, and inflammation markers.
For women, thyroid function and iron levels are also checked. For men over 45, a prostate test is also available. Please check with your employer to see which tests apply to you.
-
Do I need to fast before the blood test?
To ensure accurate results, it is recommended that you refrain from eating for 12 hours before the test. A cup of coffee or tea is fine, but it should be without milk or sugar.
-
What happens if I forget to fast before the test?
The sample will still be taken as usual, but please inform the nurse so the doctor can interpret the results correctly. If needed, the test may have to be retaken.
-
Where is the sampling done and by whom?
The sampling is performed at your office by one of BizMed's registered nurses or at any Unilab, you will be informed what is applicable for you.
-
Is it okay to exercise before the test?
Light exercise, such as walking, is fine, but it’s best to avoid vigorous exercise before the blood test, as it could affect some results.
-
What should I do if I'm nervous before the blood test?
Please let the nurse know if you are feeling nervous or worried about the test. Our nurses are skilled in working with individuals who are afraid of needles or find blood tests unpleasant. The needle prick typically feels like a mild insect sting and usually subsides quickly.
-
How is an ECG done?
During an ECG, small sticky pads with electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs near the wrists and ankles. These electrodes are connected to a device that measures the electrical signals from your heart with each beat. You will be asked to lie down in a relaxed, supine position on a stretcher. For the most accurate results, it’s important to remain still and relaxed during the procedure. Your bra can be kept on, but it may need to be removed from your back.
The ECG is painless and usually takes no longer than ten minutes.
-
How long does the sampling take?
The meeting with the nurse for blood samples and blood pressure measurement lasts about 15 minutes, or 20 minutes if an ECG is also performed.
-
Do I need to bring some form of identification with me to the test?
Yes, please bring identification with you.
